LEON, SPAIN
North west Spain.
06.12.2020
I stayed in Leon North West Spain,in the month of February,on a holiday in Spain of
17 days. The main part of the trip was to travel on the narrow gauge railway called FEVE
on the Northern coast. - In an earlier blog called " Journey on FEVE Narrow gauge Railway Spain" i
comment.- I stayed one night in Leon at the Hotel Riosol ,near the railway station of Leon. i arrived in
Leon just after a snow shower, now it was rain most of the time, but it did not stop
me enjoying Leon. The old town was 500m away, after crossing the bridge over the
river Bernesga. I soon came across the old Quarter. The gothic cathedral was built between
1205 and 1301. Other places of interest were the Casa de los Butines,,,designed by Gaudi. The Parador San Marcos and Square. The Palacio de los Guzmanes and a walk on Bolero San Marcos. There is a Wall from Roman times. Despite the weather Leon
was very interesting. I continued on to Ferrol to start my trip on FEVE.
